Dad and Andrea Hirata (Oct 13th, 2007)

In my old post I had told you about my fondness over Andrea Hirata’s novels. Well, I guess the same situation has happened to my dad to. It started when I bought the novels (I just couldn’t help it to own my own Andrea’s Novels) and my dad saw them. Since my two sisters and I had read the second and third novel, so we just focused on Andrea’s first novel, Laskar Pelangi. Seeing his interest and curiosity over the books I bought, I suggested my dad to read Sang Pemimpi first. Since then he was glued to his book. We would question his reading progress and he would happily share his reading with us. Out of sudden on the broad daylight, he put the book and his eyes were red with tears. I was surprised what caused him to cry. Later on I found out that he had read the chapter when Haikal’s father had to travel 30 km with his bicycle and at that day he earned the chair no 75th since Haikal’s grade was no 75. But his reaction didn’t change. He still came to school wearing his best suit along with his old bicycle. He didn’t get disappointed with Haikal. He kept the same smile for him. Maybe there’s something in that chapter that related to his feelings. Then on another different day, we found him weeping again. This time he was reading the last chapter when Haikal and Arai got the scholarship to Sorbonne. Arai was the last person in his clan. His parents had died and they were one and only child in their families. It happened the same for Arai since he got no siblings. When he received the later, he was so sad for he didn’t have the parents to share his happiness and success. I think I knew the reason he cried. He was lonely in the past. His mom died and his father remarried and didn’t take care of him. He lived on his own. So, when my dad read that chapter, he felt like it’s also his story. Now my dad has moved to the 3rd book, Edensor. He still shared his excitement with us. And he remembered about Arai and Nurmala and Jimron and his horse delusion very well. So, when my sister asked us to take a family picture on Idul Fitri day, he didn’t forget to bring his book. He said he wanted to be taken picture with Andrea’s book. He brought the Edensor with him ^^. I am so proud of my dad. For your information, he’s elementary graduate, so I am so amazed that he can enjoy reading Andrea’s books. If he finds English words or those Latin words, he would ask my sisters or I to translate them, just like when he wanted to know the lyric sung by Arai for Nurmala. Now not only my dad who is busy reading Andrea’s book but also my brother is. He’s reading the first book, Laskar Pelangi. I am so excited to see it. Oh, I have told you in my previous post, I also asked my students to read Sang Pemimpi. I tried not to put a high expectation on it. But on Tuesday one of my students called me to ask about the task after reading the book. Surprisingly she (her nickname is Icha from XC) told me that it was a great book. She enjoyed it and she thanked me for that. She even planned to buy the first book. Wow……..I was so touched. I was so excited (see, it’s that so easy to make a teacher please). Finally, my effort was fruitful. At least, one of my students claimed that she was interested and liked the book p^_____^q. Actually, I would love to have Andrea talk to my students about his life which I believe can inspire my students’ life and bring the positive impact to their point of view. Wish me luck! *^^*

프라이팬 놀이/Frying Pan Game/BTS

Playing Frying Pan Game/BTS We played a new game called Frying pan game (프라이팬 놀이) with our Korean guests in our Korean Class. It was fun. It’s like catching the mouse game. We learn the Korean numbers in the same time.  Say, if your friend mentions your name and the number, you have to mention your name according to the number he/she mentions previously.  For example, if your friend says "Dana dul (2)", so you have to say your name twice, "Dana...Dana" and so on and so on. If you make a mistake, well, you get the punishment. The type of the punishment depends on the agreement of the players. They are many types, trust me. Just choose one.  This game was played on one of the TV programs in Korea hosted by Kang Ho Dong (강 호 동), Hye Ryong said. 재미 있네요. 우리 애들이 놀이를 좋아해요.  But hey! BTS too played this game on one of their TV shows.  You can check out the video  here  So far, we have learned many Korean games. Mostly we got from Korean T

Bungeoppang a.k.a Taiyaki

Bungeoppang a.k.a Taiyaki “ What did Archimedes say? “Eureka”. I would like to borrow his word for my little success although I didn’t invent anything. ”     Aku udah bingung banget cari resep Bungeoppang , kue isi pasta kacang merah berbentuk ikan. Coba beberapa resep tetep tak sukses. Lalu aku tengok resep sodara tuanya Bungeoppang , Taiyaki . Infonya lengkap. Trus aku cari resep sodara tuanya aja, Taiyaki. I am lucky. Aku dapet beberapa resep Taiyaki. S

Dora The Explorer Dan Oreo Termahal

Maka, tak heran jika beberapa orang tua pun terkadang menolak diberi kurs
