What are those? Can you guess? Those are Hanbok. Hanbok is Korean traditional dress. It’s very beautiful, my favorite kind of dress. In fact, I love to wear for special occasion. So far, I have worn hanbok at the school graduation and my friend’s engagement party. I plan to wear it to a wedding party. By wearing it, I feel really special. People start to stare. Hehehe…that’s why I feel special.
Now, I will explain a bit about hanbok. But I am not an expert so I took the information from the internet, www.korea.net. the hanbok worn by women as everyday attire consists chiefly of the following: a dress ( jeogori ), a skirt ( chima ), and undergarments, such as an undershirt ( sokjeogori ), under pants ( gojaeng-i ), inner skirt ( sokchima ) and socks ( beoseon ). Men's hanbok are made up of jeogori, pants ( baji ), an overcoat ( durumagi ), vest, outer coat ( magoja ) and socks ( beoseon ). Western accessories such as shoes and handbag are also used.
The hanbok on the picture is a used one. I bought my hanbok at the traditional market which is called “CIMOL” at Gedebage Market, in Bandung. They sell those hanbok at a reasonable price if you know how to bargain. They may look old and dirty but once you wash them, they will look like a brand new ones. You need to be very careful in choosing and be good in doing the bargain for the price.
So, if you want to have a hanbok with a very cheap price, just go to CIMOL at Gedebage Market in Bandung. It’s quite famous site, so you won’t get lost. Go shopping till you drop!
