Korean Restaurant
On last Friday, I was taken to one of the Korean restaurants in
Bandung. It is located in Jalan Sukajadi. Although I have tasted some of Korean
dish, but I have never been to Korean restaurant before. So, it was my first
visit there.
The Menu
The dish names are written
in Korean and Indonesian, so you won’t get confused. My Korean friend Hye Ryong
and Won asked me to choose which food I would like to have. They are many of
them which I haven’t tasted. But for that day, I decided I would like to have 갈비탕 (it’s beef rib
soup) and they ordered another food 냉면 (cold noodle) and 두부찌개(spicy tofu
soup). Before that they almost ordered food that has 돼지고기 (pork) in it.
Luckily, her husband remembered that I am a Muslim.
Ice in Noodle?
I was surprised to see ice inside the noodle on냉면. It actually has ice. Since the day was hot, so it was suitable. Before eating, we were given side dish or 반찬. They are served on small bowl and they are many. But you can always find Kimchi.
I had Chinese cabbage and radish Kimchi,
if I am not mistaken. And there’s 호박 which is cooked like the one I sometimes have at
home. It is almost the same. Then there’s 시금치 (spinach)
which was cooked with sesame oil (참기름). The palace has 12반찬. Wow!
Scissors?
The rice (밥) is served on stainless
steel bowl. 냉면 is served on stainless steel bowl, big one. 두부찌개 and 갈비탕 on
earthenware bowl. I was shocked when I saw the waitress bringing scissors. What
was it for? I said to myself. Oh, it turned out it was used for cutting the
buckwheat noodles. I never know that. Unfortunately, they don’t give Korean
spoon and chopsticks. Indonesian rice and Korean rice are different. Although
the amount of rice which was served to me was not much, but since the Korean
rice is almost the same like glutinous rice, so it can easily make you feel
full. It is just like eating Japanese rice. Hye Ryong said that the Korean
would eat two bowls of rice. What? I was so full by just eating one bowl plus
those반찬 and those soups. I could hardly get up. Hye Ryong husband
said that he would eat 3 bowls of Bakso (Indonesian noodles and meat balls).
And Hye Ryong said that she would easily feel hungry because Indonesian food
was served in small amount. Well, I guess they need to go to Padang restaurant.
They will get the same thing like they have in Korean restaurant ^_____^.
The Nice Couple
They were very nice
persons. They kept giving me food. I had to reject them since my stomach
couldn’t handle more food. Oh, don’t ask about the price. It’s expensive for
Indonesians. At least, it is for me. It is just like when you walk into
Japanese restaurant. Prepare your money. Anyway, it was a great and refreshing
experience for me. 잘 먹었어요 ^^.
